Where can I park for my appointment at FIA Nails, Beauty and Wellness in Diss?

There are a number of public carparks a short walk from my treatment room at FIA Nails, Beauty and Wellness in Diss. I have marked the four closest on this map:

The first hour of parking in Diss public car parks is free, with a check-in and out option also offered so you don't need to rush back after your treatment. The machines in Diss allow payment by card as well as cash, or you can use the RingGo parking app.

Where are you based?

I am based in a small village near to Attleborough in Norfolk. You have two options for seeing me:

Mobile massage therapy in your home. I come to you, set up in your home and deliver your treatment right there. This is a great option for those trying to fit a massage in around life in general, as you don't need to take travel times into account. I offer this service within a 15 mile radius of Kenninghall, and you can call me to book.

How much space do you need to work?

For a mobile appointment, I will need a room with a level floor, free of trip hazards, and a clear space which is large enough for both me and my table. My table measures 71cm x 185cm (or 211cm if you require the headrest extension for your height) - or 28” x 73”(83”). I am unfortunately not able to help you move furniture around to create this space. The room also ideally needs to be free of distractions, such as children or pets - although I will quite happily work around either, they may make it difficult for you to relax and enjoy your massage, and I can’t be responsible for their wellbeing while I work. If that doesn’t sound right for you, why not book a clinic appointment at FIA Nails and Wellness in Diss?

What happens at my appointment?

We begin with a chat about your needs and any issues that you may be experiencing. This may take place over the phone when you book, or at the appointment itself (although bear in mind that if you only book a 30 minute appointment, this will eat into your time on the couch). I will make some brief observations of your posture, so it’s useful if you wear shorts and a T-shirt to your appointment, or change when you arrive.

I will then leave the room and ask you to make yourself comfortable on the couch under a blanket. You may need to disrobe to your underwear, depending on where we are working and what you are wearing, but never more than that. When I return, I will ensure that you are comfortable, fold back the blanket to expose the part of the body on which we will be working, and begin your treatment.

After your massage is complete and you have redressed, we will have another brief chat about how you are feeling and if appropriate I will demonstrate some exercises and stretches that you can do at home to prolong the benefits of your treatment, and advise you on your aftercare. Then you’re all done, and hopefully feeling relaxed and ready to face the world again!

What is your cancellations policy?

In general, I require 24 hours notice of a cancellation so that I can fill the slot. Missed appointments or last-minute cancellations will incur a charge.

However, this policy is waived in the case of you or a member of your household testing positive for Covid-19.

If you are unable to make your appointment please let me know, so that we can try to find a better time for you.

Please also refer to my Covid-19 Safety Policy.

Can my children / pets be in the room during my treatment?

As a parent and pet-owner myself, I know that it's not always easy to get a bit of time to yourself! And part of the joy of my job is coming to your home and meeting you and your lovely pets and family members.

That said, please be aware that I cannot be responsible for the safety of either pets or children while I am working. If you have a lively pet or curious toddler, they may well get into mischief while you are on the massage couch. Dogs, for example, appear to very much like the taste of grapeseed oil, which I cannot think is good for them! And toddlers are often fascinated by the workings of the couch, which presents possible finger trapping hazards. There is also the possibility that I may fall over them hurting one or all of us - so for everyone's safety and your relaxation, I would advise that it's best not for them to be in the room. If I feel that the safety of everyone would be put at risk by the presence of others in the room, I will unfortunately not be able to carry out your treatment.

I am happy to work with babies in bouncer chairs or similar, older children who are able to amuse themselves with a book or device, and with animals who settle well with strangers in the room. In addition, if you have a young baby and you need to take a break to feed or change them that is absolutely fine with me. Give me a call and we can chat through how best we can make your appointment happen.

Where do you cover?

In general, I work within a 15 mile radius of Kenninghall in Norfolk. Villages and towns in this area include:

  • Attleborough
  • Thetford
  • Diss
  • Walsham-le-Willows
  • Stanton
  • Watton
  • Wymondham
  • Eye
  • Harleston
  • Elmswell
  • Thurston

This is not an exhaustive list however - please see the map on my homepage for the full area that I cover!

If you live outside of this area, please do still get in touch as it may still be possible for me to see you, particularly if you and a friend or partner would like to book consecutive treatments at the same location. However please note that mileage charges may apply.

If you are looking for a therapist in another part of the country, please visit the Federation of Holistic Therapists website to find a therapist in your local area.

How do I book?

The easiest way to book is by giving me a call. I don't currently offer online booking as I need to be able to take travel times and distances into account.

You can also send me a text or a message via Facebook - although generally a call is the better option as it involves a lot less to-ing and fro-ing!

What products do you use?

I use two products for my treatments, Naqi Massage Lotion Sport and grapeseed oil.

Grapeseed oil is a naturally hypoallernagenic product, which is food safe - you can even buy it at Tescos. It has very little fragrance and gives a nice 'glide' on the skin. I tend to use this for shorter massages with relatively low amounts of deep tissue work.

Naqi Massage Lotion Sport is the product that I use for most of my treatments, as I find this to be a superior medium for longer sports massages. It is a dermatologically tested hypoallernagenic product that is water-based. It is free from products of animal origin, parabens and formaldehyde releasers. This lotion has a subtle fragrance and is also moisturising, so it is easily absorbed by the skin. Read a list of the ingredients in this product.

I do not use any nut-based products.

Do you need a parking space for a treatment at my home?

Ideally, I will need to be able to park as close as possible to the property where treatment will be taking place. If you do not have a driveway or an allocated space, and you anticipate problems in me being able to park, please let me know when you make your booking as I may need to drop equipment off then park the car, and will need to allow extra time for this.

That said, the massage mobile is a very little car, so don't worry - I probably don't need quite as much space as you think!

What should I wear for my treatment?

Wear something comfortable. You may prefer to bring a pair of shorts to change into, especially for sports massage treatments on the legs.

Please be aware that you will never disrobe to beyond the level of your underwear and that you will be covered with a blanket throughout your treatment, apart from your head and the area of the body being worked on.

What else is there to do in Diss?

FIA Nails, Beauty and Wellness in Diss is right in the centre of town, so you can easily pop for a coffee after your treatment. There are several independent coffee shops, as well as a Costa.

Diss also has a range of shops, many of which are independent businesses. One of my favourites is the Diss Publishing Bookshop, which is just a few minutes walk away from the salon.

Can I pay by card?

I can take payments by card or in cash. The only thing that I need is 4G access on Vodafone so that I can connect to the payment network.

If there is a problem with the card reader (this has only happened once, in an area with no mobile signal), I can generate and send an e-invoice.

Is there step-free access?

The treatment room at FIA Nails, Beauty and Wellness is on the first floor, and the stairs to access it are narrow and twisting. If you need step-free access, you will probably find a treatment at your home more suitable.

If you need step-free access but do not wish to have an at-home treatment, please get in touch so that we can discuss our options as I may be able to suggest an alternative venue.

What facilities are available at the Diss treatment room?

There is a customer toilet at FIA, and tea, coffee and drinking water is available. There is no parking on site but the building is in the very centre of town, with several car parks within easy reach. Diss pay and display car parks currently offer one hour of free parking, and a check in and out option in case you are unsure of how much time you need.

Where does my treatment take place?

Treatment either takes place at your home, or at FIA Nails, Beauty and Wellness in Diss.

If you choose a treatment at home I will bring all the equipment necessary for your treatment and take all rubbish away with my afterwards. All you need to do is to decide where you would like your treatment to take place. A ground floor room is generally preferable, and one with a good amound of clear floor space - I find kitchens and living rooms are generally good places to set up.

If you decide to have a treatment at FIA in Diss, please be aware that there are steps to access the treatment room.

What is the difference between sports massage and deep tissue massage?

Deep tissue massage is frequently delivered as a full-body treatment, while sports massage is targetted to the areas of the body requiring treatment.
